SUMMARY

Spacedrive (https://spacedrive.com) is an open source cross-platform file explorer, powered by a virtual distributed filesystem written in Rust.

Its main selling point is its ability to unify file storage across multiple platforms in real time. Whether your files are distributed across multiple cloud services (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc) or across many local hard drives (laptops, desktops, phones, etc), Spacedrive brings them together into one intuitive interface.

Under the hood, Spacedrive allows your devices to connect to each other without necessarily requiring yet another cloud service to act as a go-between. This approach prioritizes privacy and security and it’s my hope that this becomes a new standard.

Other notable features include Spacedrive’s unified search functionality and optional AI enhanced search and AI suggestions for file/folder structure organization.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this project!
